All players will receive five cards face down. Each player puts each card in the front, middle, or
back and shows the setting of his/her starting five cards.
Then each player gets one card at a time and continues placing the cards until each player has
thirteen cards with three cards in the front, five in the middle, and five in the back. Players play in
clockwise order starting from the left of the dealer button.
The ranking for the hands is the same as for regular poker unless for the top hand where a player
can’t have straights or flushes. Foul Hand: A hand is considered fouled if the front is a higher-ranking
poker hand than the middle or the middle is higher ranking than the back. A fouled hand is considered
scooped against a non-fouled hand.
Players compare each of their three sub-hands (front, middle, and back) to each of the
other players. One point is awarded to the player who wins each comparison. If a player wins all three against another player, he is awarded three extra points for the scoop.
All points and royalties will be paid in position order, starting with the player in 1st
position. Each individual player transaction will be completed in full before moving on to the next
Players are only eligible to win or lose the amount of chips they began the hand with. As an example,
Player A has 12 points; he can win or lose only 12 points from Player B. If he wins 8 points from Player
B, he now has a total of 4 points remaining of his original 12 for his transaction with Player C. If he
wins or loses those 4 points he will have concluded his actions and will have no transactions with
A player is eliminated from the event when they cannot pay the full points owed to an individual
player in turn. Players who reach “zero” points during the course of their individual transactions will
be eliminated from the event.
If a player exposes his cards out of turn, it will be a one-point penalty to all players at the
table. Players who miss a hand will pay a 3 point penalty per active player in the hand, but will not
have to pay any royalties accrued on that hand; they also will not receive any penalty chips from other
Players will not be allowed to step away from the table during hands where decisions remain. Any
player who does so will have their hand declared fouled and will pay a full penalty plus all applicable
In the initial setting of the 5 cards, if a player wishes to leave the bottom row empty,
he must make a declaration to this effect. Verbal action is not binding and a player’s turn will not be
completed until they have placed their card and removed their hand. For the purposes of balancing
tables, the first position left of the button will be moved to the same spot of the new table, or a
worse position. The button will move to its correct position before any new players from broken
tables are seated. This means that a player from a broken table will not be seated on the button.
Any player may call the clock after 30 seconds have lapsed. The slow player will be given 30 seconds
to act. If no action is taken at that time, the card is placed in the front-most sub-hand that doesn’t
cause a guaranteed foul. Final Table will be played 5 handed with the button being dealt out.
